Firefighting: intensive training and improvement in air consumption in self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)

This article presents a research done with Military Firemen who have passed through three-week intensive firefighting training. Developed by the authors, it was applied an air consumption measurement protocol during use of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), fundamental equipment, before and after that period. It noticed comsuption considerably improved training program, for three different types effort (light, medium high) established.
